Question: How do I get out of this rut at age 23?

Answer #1:

look for work through your college. typically there will be an office with employment leads in your field, as well as work through the college outside your field (whether it's washing dishes in the cafeteria or whatever). they will typically also have help in terms of preparing resumes, preparing for job interviews and so on.

cancel the internet and the cable and have your mom stop buying the scratch tickets (which is basically burning money), and use that savings to get a decent set of work clothes, without which you won't make it past an interview.

if there's really no work you can find, find a volunteer/ internship job in your field. that's how you build a resume and get the next job.

Answer #2:

I think 4 years isn't that long. There is the possibility of college degrees on line these days as well. As for the cable I find myself DVDs from the Good Will store, etc. without the TV can help lower expenses. It will afford for other expenses such as clothes. Define rut? You are living with 3 family members, your mom is probably taking care of your daughter or she's at school. I think it'll be alright but maybe someone else has a better answer for you.
